Morphological Description
PILEUS
• Margin sulcate to plicate, almost appearing straight
• Cap surface is a little bit shiny (silvery), and dry
• Cap is a bit wrinkled (rugulose/fine wrinkled)
• Color is mousy grey, edges are white before being touched, turns dark grey after being touched. The Center of the cap is always a bit darker than the rest of the cap. The entire cap turns darker in color after it dries up and it’s touched
HYMENOPHORE
• Gills, light grey
• Narrow thickness, fleshy consistency, entire margin
• Adnexed
• Margin is entire
• Lamellulae (reaching halfway to the stipe) are present between each lamella (long gill)
STIPE
• Central
• Tiny, thin, and circular in shape
• Base is also circular and tiny (albeit a little fatter than the middle sections of the stipe)
• Hollow interior, pliable consistency
• Light grey in color before drying or touch, with a dove grey base. Dark brown after drying up
• No basal tomentum
• No veil or rhizoids/rhizomorphs
BRUISING/STAINING
• After approximately 3 hours the stipe and pileus darkens in color to a dark grey, the rest of the parts turn brown after dehydration
On mossy branch, surrounded by hemlock and cedar trees, possibly also different varieties of firs.
