North Vancouver, Capilano Regional Park, between the Coho trail and Pipeline trail; From salmon hatchery walk over bridge to cross river to get to Coho trail; Turn left onto Coho Trail and walk 150m down trail; You will see a large bluff to the right of the trail, that is peppered with Polystichum munitumn, Gaultheria shallon, Vaccinium parvifolium and tree species such as pseudosuga menziesii, Tsuga heterophylla and Thuja plicata; The top of this bluff is about 20m from the Coho Trail; Climb the bluff, then walk another 80m straight through open mossy shaded depression in landscape

Morphological Description
Habit:
Solitary or scattered, Mycena epipterygia displays a distinctive growth pattern in its natural habitat.
Pileus:
The cap is conic or bell-shaped, prominently raised in the center. The margin is striate to translucent striate, adorned with appendiculate fragments that exhibit an almost scalloped appearance near the margin. Pileus coloration varies from light brown/gray/olive near the disc to pale yellow near the margin. The thin pileus is hygrophanous, featuring a moist, viscid, and smoothly striate surface. The consistency is fragile, yet it possesses a thin translucent flexible pellicle. The overall dimensions of the pileus are approximately 0.7mm, and the cross-section is straight.
Odor and Taste:
A very slightly starchy odor is discernible, while the taste is described as rather farinaceous, bearing a slight resemblance to glutinous stale bread.
Hymenium:
The gills are adnately attached, forming a gilled structure. In the early stages, the hymenium is white, gradually transitioning to white to pale yellow as it matures. The spacing of the hymenium is subdistant to distant, with a narrow thickness and a somewhat fleshy consistency. The margin of the hymenium remains entire.
Stipe:
The stipe is central with an equal, flexuous shape and a hollow interior. Its base is abruptly bulbous. The stipe exhibits a color gradient, fading from pale yellow near the apex to yellow/gold near the base. The surface is smooth, viscid, and minutely puberulous. Consistency is fibrous to cartilaginous, yet fragile considering its hollow/tubular interior. The stipe measures approximately 56mm in length and ~1mm in width. Notably, the stipe lacks a basal tomentum, partial veil, and universal veil.
Staining Patterns:
No recorded staining patterns have been identified in this mushroom.
Spore Characteristics:
The spore print is white to very pale bluff. Spores are very smooth, ovoid to broadly ellipsoidal in shape, featuring a hilar appendix. Dimensions of the spores are approximately 10.37 micrometers in length and ~5.68 micrometers in width. In Melzer's reagent, spores exhibit an amyloid reaction, while other parts of the mushroom display a dextrinoid reaction with Melzer's. Cheilocystidia are present.

Host Substratum
On moist decaying Thuja plicata log that was covered in Buckiella undulata and decaying Polystichum munitum fronds as well as roots; Thuja plicata leaf litter was also evident
Notes
Spore print white to very pale bluff; Under microscopy spores appear thin walled, smooth, and ovoid to broadly ellipsoidal w/ hillar appendix. Dextranoid reaction occurs w/ melzers, however spores are amyloid; Thin, fragile, cartilaginous yellow stipe; existing tough cuticle on pileus
Habitat
Growing on top of fallen and decaying Thuja plicata; Specifically this fungal species was growing amongst moss and decaying Polystichum munitum fronds as well as roots that have colonized the fallen Thuja in a shaded mossy depression on top of a large bluff
