Mild earthy smell; Cap very light brown when fresh but turn darker brown when drier, scaly, convex, filamentous without pileipellis; Stipe brown, scaly, stipe surface is lined with widely spaced scales or fibrils that are dark brown in color, white dots present near the gill attachment; White spore print; spore elliptical, hyaline, thick-walled, non-amyloid; Numerous basidia and basidiospores lined on the base of the gills.
Habitat
Temperate rainforest, growing in soil covered with abundant litter and coarse woody debris, next to word ferns and western red cedar roots. Also growing on a slope.
