Morphological Description
Mushroom presents on decaying trees usually conifer wood as a small shelf-like structure that is leathery when wet and tough when dry. Cap length can vary but in the provided sample, caps ranged from 10mm to 3cm depending on age. The margin of the cap is found to have a lightly lilac colouring whereas the rest of the body is an off white. The cap extends directly from the decaying wood and the connection to the wood from the cap runs most of the length of the fruiting body, which gives it an oblong or kidney shape. Pores are irregular and roughly 0.25mm deep with an off-white colour; however, with age, the pores deepen and can be as deep as 1mm with a more tooth-like look and light brown colour. Spores are white with no ornamentation and are long and slender with an average length 48.4 micrometers and an average width of 3.8 micrometers. Fruiting body had distinct smell or taste nor are there any latex or staining.
