Macroscopic: Pileus 1-4cm wide, up to 4.5cm if fused, and 0.5-0.75cm. Cap is convex, margins straight to decurved entire to crenate, scrobiculate (usually one main bellybutton-like ridge/divot) otherwise smooth, dry, dull/silky. Cap colour is orange/light brown to cream on outside. Turgid/corky when pressed, brittle when broken. No latex, smell earthy/spicy, taste mildly sweet/almond extract-like, slight spice. Hymenophore toothed, thickness and length <1mm, spacing crowded/close, edges acute. Stipe central to eccentric, 1.5-4.5cm long and 0.5-1.25cm thick (up to 2 cm if fused). Shape fusiform/ventricous fusiform, surface fibrous/smooth, texture pliable, fibrous when broken, interior solid, orange to dark brown bruising. Microscopic: Spores 5-10um long, 3-7.5um wide, hyaline, thin-walled.
Habitat
Growing on soil/coniferous litter around moss, Western Hemlock, skunk cabbage, and coral fungi on bank of large area of pooling.
