Morphologically similar to Cortinarius elegantior and Cortinarius multiformis. However, DNA sequence (ITS region) of this specimen is quite similar to Cortinarius verrucisporus.
Habitat
Maple, hemlock, Douglas Fir trees existed nearby, but none grew over or shaded this specimen.
Moist soil, Ground cover consisted of decayed plant material.
