Notes
This species is repeatedly collected by student in Biol 323. It does not fit perfectly with available species descriptions.
Only 3 pieces of sample was able to be collected. In which one of them seemed younger than the other two, displayed a more greyish color as compared to the purpleish brown in the older sample. The red marking at the cap of one mushroom might resemble bruising, or could just be normal color in which the fungus is maturing into.
Habitat
Deep woods, heavy shaded. Moist environment and mushroom is located on a dead stump that might have been a hemlock.
