Notes
The cap is pulvinate (cushion shape) when young and becomes convex (evenly rounded) as it ages. The surface of the stem is longitudinally striate and is centrally located under the cap. It consists of a solid interior which can break with a snap. The cross section of the gills was stained with Melzer’s regeant and a positive reaction was seen where the spores turned blue.
Habitat
the mushroom was found growing by itself on the ground near moss in wet soil (rotten wood is part of the soil), shadowed by a wet conifer forest
