This is an immature specimen. This mushroom species at maturity is bigger with more distinctive pigmentation.
Habitat
The mushrooms were found growing on the soil of the forest floor. The soil looked rich and slightly sandy. There were sword ferns growing in the same area.
They were not growing close to any living trees.
