Red-purplish cap colour, stem and flesh change from white to light brown (bruising), fishy smell. Cap size ranges from 4.5cm to 8.6cm (youngest to oldest). Texture of cap on outer regions is smooth, texture in centre is pruniose. Stem length ranges from 4.5cm-6.4cm (youngest to oldest). The most mature sample had a stem diameter of 1.7cm at the top, and 2.1cm at the bottom (slightly clavate). Interior of stem is partially hollow and partially pithy - pith changes from white to brown with bruising. Spore ornamentation is spiny. Spore length ranges from 11-12micrometers, and width ranges from 7.5-10micrometers.
Habitat
Growing on shaded ground with moss, ferns and conifers nearby.
