Notes
A small mushroom with a papillate cap (with dark brown nipple). Stipe near the apex is a pale purple-grey colour. Has a maroon ring and stipe is stained the same colour from the ring down to its base. The diameter of the cap ranges from 1 to 2.5 cm. The depth of the cap ranges from 1.5 to 2 cm. The length of the stipe from where it attaches to the cap is 3.5 to 6 cm. The apex is 0.5 cm thick. The base of the stipe is about 1 cm thick.
Habitat
Specimen was found in the soil next to a fallen tree. There was moss growing near the specimen. Above it was a dense canopy, which allowed little to no sunlight through. Forest litter, such as broken branches, conifer needles and cones, and dead leaves surrounded the fungus. This fungus can be connate (fused at the base of fruiting bodies of the members of the same species).
