There are three small tufts of white hyphae on the youngest specimen; two on the margin of the cap and one slightly lower on the stipe, in-between. These may be the remnants of a cortina from the button stage.The largest specimen with the small hole in the cap is the specimen from which genetic extraction and identification were made.
Habitat
On soil, between a clump of about 4 trees, likely conifers. It may have been disturbed soil, as it was in or at the edge of a landscaped area next to a building.
