Morphological Description
The specimen is clearly a gilled mushroom, as it has pale-tan/off-white gills to produce spores. The stipe colour is in gradation from dark brown near the base to tan near the top just below the cap, with a velvety texture while being overall quite stiff. In the largest specimen it measures 6.5 cm tall and 0.25 cm wide. The cap shape is more or less conical, however flattening with age. The cap border is a faint yellow colour which grades into reddish-brown at the apex and has a smooth/silky texture. The cap is of 1.6 cm in diameter in the oldest specimen. The mushroom’s gills are adnexed and off-white. When the gills were studied under the compound microscope, very distinct (and relatively large) cheilocystidida were observed.
