Immature basidiomata with bright yellow stipe and convex pileus showing an incurved margin, reddish-brown staining exhibited along the stipe. Pileus surface dark brown, nearly black at margins and smooth-granulose in texture. Bright yellow, ventricose-fusiform stipe with solid, similarly coloured yellow interior; cut surfaces exhibit reddish staining after several minutes. Gill colouration matches bright yellow stipe, gills are thick and with wide, even spaces, attachment appears notched. Stipe darkens at base, basal tomentum white and abundant across soil.
Basidiospores inamyloid, ellipsoid in shape with tapered ends, smooth and thin-walled, with multiple small internal oil-bodies visible. Spores deep olive-brown in colour.
