Notes The  viscous  top  of  cap  and  brown  color  suggest  that  this  mushroom  is  in  the  T.  pessundatum  group.  but  species  determination  is  tentative.  Trichoderma  ustale  is  associated  with  hardwoods,  while  conifers  predominate  at  Capilano.  The  GenBank  sequence  for  T.  muricatum  matches  our  sequence  well  through  the  ITS1  region.  The  notes  from  the  fresh  specimens  suggest  that  the  color  was  originally  reddish  brown  rather  than  the  yellow  brown  that  appears  on  the  photo.
